Platoon Sergeant
Tier I Field Leadership Role

The Platoon Sergeant (PSG) increases the platoon’s efficiency by sharing the workload with the Platoon Leader or Platoon Commander. They manage support and sustainment, freeing the PL/PCo to focus on manoeuvre and execution. PSG is also used as a developmental/observational stepping stone to Platoon Leader.

Squad Commander (≤28)
Tier II Field Leadership Role

The Squad Commander (SC) is a senior Squad Leader operating independently of a Platoon Command structure. SC is a Field Leader role integrating attachments and coordinating adjacent elements to deliver mission intent. The maximum ORBAT size commanded by this role is 28, inclusive of the SC and exclusive of the Mission Support Team.

Platoon Commander (≤32)
Tier II Field Leadership Role

The Platoon Commander (PltCo) is responsible for the conduct of their platoon from start to finish. They direct the 2-3 main squads of the platoon and any attachments, synchronise manoeuvre and fires, and accomplish the mission with minimal friendly and maximum enemy casualties. This is a Field Leader role with a maximum ORBAT size of 32, inclusive of the PltCo and exclusive of the Mission Support Team.

Platoon Leader (≤45)
Tier III Field Leadership Role

The Platoon Leader (PL) operates under the direction of a Company Commander. Delivers decisive results through superior battle procedure, control of attachments, and proactive coordination with adjacent elements. Platoon Leaders are not Field Leaders, and are permitted up to a maximum Platoon Size of 45.

Tier III Field Leadership Role

The Platoon Commander (PltCo) is responsible for the conduct of their platoon from start to finish. They direct the 2-3 main squads of the platoon and any attachments, synchronise manoeuvre and fires, and accomplish the mission with minimal friendly and maximum enemy casualties. This is a Field Leader role with a maximum ORBAT size of 45, inclusive of the PltCo and exclusive of the Mission Support Team.

SF Commander (≤45)
Tier III Qualified Field Leadership Role

The Special Forces Commander (SFC) lead special operations units on complex missions. Despite typically smaller team sizes, they exercise authority comparable to a conventional Platoon Commander and are granted wide latitude to achieve mission success. This is a Field Leader role permitted up to 45 slots, inclusive of the SFC and exclusive of the Mission Support Team.

Tier IV Field Leadership Role

The Platoon Commander (PltCo) is responsible for the conduct of their platoon from start to finish. This is a Field Leader role with a maximum ORBAT size of 64, inclusive of the PltCo and exclusive of the Mission Support Team.

This is a Field Leader role with a maximum ORBAT size of 64, inclusive of the CoyCo and exclusive of the Mission Support Team.
