Several weeks ago, Takistani forces crossed the border and occupied key villages and transportation routes within the district, disrupting government control and threatening local populations. In response, the Afghan National Army has launched Operation Homecoming, a coordinated counteroffensive to reclaim occupied territory and restore security throughout the region. We are part of the main effort to retake the district, and have been tasked with clearing enemy-held positions, reopening key routes, and restoring Afghan government control. Success will enable follow-on forces to continue the advance and push Takistani forces back off of our land.
