Mission

End-state

Execution
Commander's IntentThe purpose of this mission is twofold - first, to end the siege of the encircled Taliban stronghold at Yarkanay we have inherited from IS. The second is to provide humanitarian supplies and relief to the civilian population who have suffered as the conflict has dragged on.
Tasks and Sequencing
Callsigns Papa - Infantry squad Quebec - Light vehicle section Bishop - Support engineer detachment Quebec and Bishop will form a convoy, with Quebec providing transport to Papa. They will depart Clover Airfield and travel via road to OP Fish, just E of Bezkheyl. There the infantry will dismount and patrol on foot through Bezkheyl, making contact with civilians and sweeping for any suspect activity. This will clear a safe route for Quebec and Bishop, to move into town and begin their respective tasks. Quebec will provide a base of fire towards the NW in support of Papa, while Bishop provides humanitarian supplies to the civilian populace.
It is noted at this time that there is likely to be visible insurgent contact in the Taliban stronghold to the W. If possible, we should avoid contact with those elements bar noting the positioning of any static emplacements.
Papa will then proceed NorthWest to sweep through a cluster of rocks for hostiles, in order to provide a safe route up the hill to the W. Papa and Quebec will then move up to BOF2, where they will be greenlit to engage targets in the town of Qal'ah-ye Kalan. During this time Bishop will be tasked on sweeping the road N of Bezkheyl for IED's, up to where it intersects with the road used during op "Twofold"
When the valley between BOF2 and Qal'ah-ye Kalan is deemed clear, Papa will be tasked with pushing down into the valley and splitting off to OP's Dog and Cat respectively. The down slope of the hill is particularly exposed to the town which is why it is critical it is traversed as quickly and with as much covering fire from Quebec as possible. OP's Cat and Dog are located at two places identified as being where the rock face can be scaled without undue difficulty, making it possible to assault the town from a direction the enemy is unlikely to have fortified against.
Once Papa has secured both the town and made safe a route to it N of the rock face, Quebec and Bishop will be brought into town. Quebec will set up at BOF3 covering the route S from Yarkanay, while Bishop provides resupply to Papa before seeing to the needs of any remaining civilian population.
Once resupplied, Papa will RV at OP Pony before splitting again, with one team taking up at BOF4 while the other moves via defillade E of the road to Yarkanay. The maneouvre team will assault into Yarkanay from the NNE, which will then free the other team to maneouvre and assault from NNW. The teams will clear Yarkanay N to S, dealing with any problems as they arise. Enemies should be prevented from fleeing wherever possible, to prevent a resurgence when friendly forces move out of the area. To that end Quebec will be maneouvred to cut off avenues of escape and encourage surrender among surviving enemy combatants.
Assuming all has gone to plan, we should then be able to call ENDEX at Yarkanay.
