--- OPERATIONS ORDER ---
Situation
Background InformationAfter reports of ambushed ANA Convoys East of Dilshad, High Command suspects Taliban trying to disrupt the secure corridor, which is one of the only routes to bring supplies to the remote ANA PBs east.
Friendly Forces
1x Reinforced Mech.-Inf Platoon, consisting of: 3x Rifle Squads 2x M2A2ODS "Bradley" 1x Ground-Borne EOD Team 1x CMT in 2x Ambulance Humvee 1x Support Engineer Team, responsible for Infil
Supporting Assets
-Possible remnants of ANA Convoys
Enemy Forces
-Defensive positions along the ridgelines -IEDs and mines along the MSRs -Infantry in Cells hiding out in urban areas or the mountainous regions -Highly modified Technicals with mounted Autocannons and Turrets
Mission
Tasking-Main OBJ: drive Taliban from sector and create safe passage for ANA Convoys -Side OBJ: find and secure lost ANA Convoys and equipment Should retrieval of equipment not be easily possible, demolition is permitted
End-state
-Secure Sector upheld -Main Taliban presence eliminated
Execution
Commander's IntentThe purpose of this mission is to secure free passage for ANA convoys moving along the corridor east of Dilshad. This involves eliminating Taliban presence in this area. Decisive to this operation is the establishment of control at hill 2160 (grid figures 121-117), Hill 2453 (grid figures 118-112), and Hill 2140 (grid figures 123-107). The control of these hills is supported by securing Objective "Buzzard", Objective "Chicken" and Objective "Goose".
Tasks and Sequencing
PHASE 1
Movement of march from CAMP COALITION to DISMOUNT EAGLE is: KNIGHT 1, BERSERKER mounted in BLACKSMITH's trucks, VIKING, HUNTER, STARLIGHT, KNIGHT 9.
At DISMOUNT EAGLE,
BERSERKER moves along their assigned waypoints. At Phase line 1, BERSERKER will have cleared OBJECTIVE BUZZARD whilst also blocking any Taliban forces reacting from North, Northeast, East, Southeast and South. This will allow KNIGHT to move up to Ishfaq without immediate threats and HUNTER to safely continue their search for IEDs.
KNIGHT stays close to, and preferably north of, DISMOUNT EAGLE due to perceived IED and RPG threats until OBJECTIVE BUZZARD has been cleared. During this period, KNIGHT scans the mountain sides for enemy fortifications and battle positions. Initial focus is Hill 2158 (grid figures 113-106). This will reduce the threat to BERSERKER and allow for safer demining and logistical operations. Once DISMOUNT EAGLE has been cleared, KNIGHT may move further east, though mindful of the IED threat in areas not cleared by HUNTER.
HUNTER, in cooperation with BERSERKER, clears the road going through OBJECTIVE BUZZARD. This will allow safe passage for BLACKSMITH and STARLIGHT to the objective.
PHASE 2
BERSERKER moves to secure Hill 2153 and Hill 2140, as well as to clear OBJECTIVE CHICKEN with the support of KNIGHT. BERSERKER is to also secure Hill 2160 during this phase, but due to operational distance, such movements may not commence fully until KNIGHT is able to support this movement. At the end of Phase 2, BERSERKER has secured key terrain and with this disallowed Taliban's capabilities to reinforce the sector. BERSERKER will also have secured and destroyed any and all weapons caches believed to be situated in OBJECTIVE CHICKEN.
KNIGHT will support BERSERKER's taskings, particularly their movement north to secure Hill 2160 by locating and assuming good support-by-fire positions. This tasking, and particularly the movement along or across roads must be considered high risk, though, and should be coordinated with HUNTER to prevent untimely loss of vehicles, equipment and lives. KNIGHT's support is instrumental during this phase to ensure BERSERKER's safety and our company's integrity.
HUNTER will during this phase continue clearing main roads. Priority is to ensure safe movement between BLUFOR elements, then to clear all roads with suspected IED threat (marked with yellow lines on attached illustrations). HUNTER might at periods find themselves distanced from other active combat elements, and must for that reason remain vigilant throughout this phase. HUNTER's contributions will ensure safe movement for KNIGHT, BLACKSMITH and STARLIGHT.
PHASE 3
BERSERKER initiates assault on OBJECTIVE GOOSE from three axes of movement: BERSERKER 1 assaults from the south, bypassing the town and establishing a blocking manoeuvre east of the objective to protect remaining elements from potential quick reaction forces; BERSERKER 2 assaults from the southwest and secures the south and south-eastern corners of the objective; BERSERKER 3 assaults from the west and secures the northern and western sides of the objective. Movement of BERSERKER 1 may be supported by BLACKSMITH on request. At the end of Phase 3, BERSERKER will have completely secured OBJECTIVE GOOSE and established a checkpoint at the eastern limit of assault. Successful completion of these tasks imply full restoration of control in this corridor.
KNIGHT supports the assault on OBJECTIVE GOOSE by assuming good support-by-fire positions west or southwest of the objective. KNIGHT's support at this point ensures that BERSERKER may focus on the assault, and is as such crucial for success.
Administration/Logistics
ResupplyBERSERKER is asked to be ready for foot movements and clearance of fortifications along mountainous terrain. Leaders must keep in mind, though, that LOGPAKs might be restricted due to high IED probability along key roads. All elements are, for this reason, asked to send requests for LOGPAK early. Initial position for logistical elements will be DISMOUNT EAGLE.
Medical
Ground-based CMT STARLIGHT is available throughout this operation for support. Do note, however, that STARLIGHT's movement might be restricted due to high IED probability along key roads. Initial position for the CMT will be DISMOUNT EAGLE.
Rules of Engagement
Due to the presence of civilians as well as potential remnants of missing ANA convoys, all elements are asked to ensure positive ID before engaging potential targets. Enemy caches are to be blown up, though considerations to civilian infrastructure must be made when possible.
