Execution

Commander's Intent
The purpose of this combat patrol is to clear the marked blue route around important MSRs in the immediate region near our new forward operating base. A local village elder has contacted us to advise they have intelligence to pass on to us, the pickup of which which will be conducted during this mission.

Tasks and Sequencing
Phase 1 will consist of infantry- mounted convoy along the first section of the blue route until the first break-off line which leads to Dismount A. Convoy will move at a reduced speed so as to be able to identify potential roadside threats and disarm/ destroy any found. Upon finding a threat, vehicles will maintain safe distance whilst the threat is dealt with by the nearest EOD specialist. Infantry may be directed to dismount if required. At dismount A infantry will dismount and move to sectors assigned at brief. Vehicles will maintain a covering distance with the logistics truck maintaining safe distance. One squad will contact the elder whilst the other patrols nearby sectors without intruding on civilian property unless there is viable reason to do so. Engineers will be directed to set up a checkpoint at the marked crossroads in phase 1. Infantry will need to ensure this area is secure beforehand. Phase 2 will consist of either further investigation on foot or re-mount and transit to Dismount B, dependent on prevalence of enemy forces. Proceeding, the platoon will either be directed to continue along the blue route through the phase, or to investigate potential campfires which have been reported in the terrain to the South-East of our AO. This decision may be further guided by any intel the Elder is able to give us during our meeting. Phase 3 will consist of the final stretch of the patrol route, with the route taking us North back to the FOB. Standard convoy practice of the mission will continue.
