A situation report (SITREP) is a quick and standardised way for a unit to communicate its current status to another element. It gives the information needed to make informed decisions and adjust plans if necessary.

A SITREP informs higher command of:

Position: Where you are
Activity: What your unit is doing
Threat: What the enemy is doing (level of contact or significant observations)
Status: Whether you need any assistance and your effectiveness

A SITREP provides a clear snapshot of the unit’s situation, including;

Position – Where you are.
Activity – What you're doing & what the enemy is doing.
Status – Casualties, ammo, supplies, combat effectiveness.
Objective – Progress on mission & next planned action.

Delivering a brief and accurate SITREP helps maintain situational awareness, improves coordination, and ensures effective support when needed.

Guide

A situation report (SITREP) is a report that provides the element 1-up e.g. the FTL's SL, with details of what the element is doing, and their status with regards to their current objective.

The SITREP should be brief, clear (i.e. not vague) and provides the 1-up with a clear understanding of what the element is currently doing, how they are doing, and what, if anything, they need in terms of support.

Following the SITREP, the element 1-up should know how the current progress or situation affects their current plans, and be able to make good decisions regarding the element's tasking and needs to correct or keep the plan on track.
