Hello all,

The following announcement provides details on the Winter Selection, through which all members wanting to support UNITAF hands-on are recommended to apply. All positions are considered open for applications, though note particular positions within Operations and Training Command. The announcement is structured in the following way:

  • What is Winter Selection
  • Who can/should respond to the Winter Selection?
  • How to declare my interest?
  • When is the deadline?
  • Where can I find out more about the Chain of Command?
  • Specific positions that should be filled
  • How is the ORGCOC performing?
  • How can I engage with the Winter Selection?

What is Winter Selection?

UNITAF's Organisational Chain of Command (ORGCOC) is re-appointed every six months. The ORGCOC is crucial in managing UNITAF's day-to-day operations, composed of NCOs and Officers dedicated to executing the overall strategy and direction of the unit as defined by Central Command.

As we now approach the winter term, we invite both existing and new members to engage with the process and contribute to our ongoing success. If you want to support and influence the future development of UNITAF, this is your chance!

Who can/should respond to the Winter Selection?

All members of UNITAF's active force with rank Pvt and up are encouraged to reach out to the respective command officers if they wish to contribute to the various commands or are seeking a management role within the ORGCOC. Your engagement is essential for the effectiveness of our operations across the board. Specifically, members currently engaged through the ORGCOC, as well as members who want to become part of the ORGCOC, should reach out to the relevant officers.

How to declare my interest?

Interested persons should directly contact the responsible officer for each command (recommended method is Discord Direct Message):

  • Personnel Command: 1Lt Aiedail (PC)
  • Operations Command: 2Lt SkullCollector (OC)
  • Training Command: CPT Whitewolf (TC)
  • J10: LtCol James (CC)
  • J11: Maj Korean Falcon (CC)

When is the deadline?

  • The deadline for indicating interest in positions or command changes is Thursday 4th of December 2025.
  • The selection will take place from this date until the term starts on Monday December 8th 2025.

Where can I find out more about the Chain of Command and what each group does?

How is the ORGCOC performing?

Since the last selection, the ORGCOC has been particularly concentrated on implementing FTS3 and developing a sustainable deployment rhythm.

Operations Command has been very active, expanding the unit portfolio of operations, onboarding new GMs and IOs, as well as to support an increased activity level in terms of operations, in pursuance of NEO (Never Enough Operations). They have implemented a temporary supervision system for new FLs and IOs - this will at some point be transferred over to the relevant training teams, but has in the interim enabled new feedback loops and support structures for those of you who want to start or continue your leadership or mission-making journey. Similarly, they have also re-established clear review mechanisms for underperforming operations, which allows us to develop a good list of lessons learnt and best practices.

Going forwards, their main issue to tackle will be slot vacancies. This issue causes issues for all aspects of mission planning and execution, which in turn causes frustrations for both staff and members. Further announcements and measures to tackle this are to be expected shortly.

Training Command has, on their end, been very busy with the implementation of FTS3 and the implementation of role cards. This has been a massive and complex job that will continue into the next period. We already see, however, positive results in line with our initial expectations, which is very promising for the period to come.

Central Command has over the last period engaged in important questions concerning transparency, overall management of the unit and communication. This relates in particular to the development of unit policy and doctrine, but also overall communication of changes that have been made in the unit. The roadmap is the best tool we have at our disposal to tackle all of these issues properly, and for that reason we have now established a dedicated entity under Central Command that will safeguard these processes. The Command Support Unit (CSU) will work in close cooperation with all branches of the ORGCOC to ensure that we follow the principles as explained in the FM chapter “The UNITAF Way”, and that any changes are sufficiently communicated. The CSU is in other words a deliberate step in strengthening UNITAF’s process management. Do read this announcement for more details.

How can I engage with the Winter Selection?

To summarise, the following action points are relevant for everyone who considers a tenure in the ORGCOC over the next six months:

  • Serving ORGCOC members must contact the relevant officers outlined above to confirm their intentions regarding extending their term, transferring, or stepping down before the deadline passes.

  • Prospective or interested members (Pvt+) should reach out to the officers of the command they are interested in joining to express their interest and discuss potential roles - even if you have previously done so.

I look forward to seeing your active participation. Your contributions are what make UNITAF the formidable force it is today.
