Training Command is pleased to announce streamlined adjustments to the FTS skill cards that simplify the assessment process while maintaining the integrity of our training outcomes. These changes, designed to make assessments more manageable, address logistical challenges from our initial setup.

Reason for Changes

We recognised that previous requirements for assessor weights and combinations were too stringent, causing delays and difficulties in scheduling assessments, particularly at higher skill levels.

Changes to Assessor Weights and Skills Minimum Weight Requirement

Table 1: Changes to Assessor Weights

Role Before Adjustment After Adjustment
Chief Instructor 5 points 3 points
Staff Instructor 4 points 2 points
Instructor 3 points 1 point
Observer 1 point 1 point

Table 2: Changes to Skills Minimum Weight Requirement

Skill Level Before Adjustment After Adjustment
Beginner 6 points 1 point
Developing 6 points 2 points
Capable 10 points 4 points
Proficient 14 points 6 points

Table 3: Typical Practical Requirement (Most Optimal Route)

This table outlines the most optimal combination of assessors required to meet the minimum skill level requirements, both before and after the adjustments. Please note that while any combination of assessors that mathematically exceeds the minimum requirement is possible, this table shows only the most straightforward, optimal paths, as this demonstrates the changes most clearly.

Skill Level Before Adjustment After Adjustment
Beginner 2 Instructors 1 Observer
Developing 2 Instructors 1 Staff Instructor or 1 Instructor and 1 Observer
Capable 2 Chief Instructors 1 Chief Instructor and 1 Instructor
Proficient 2 Chief Instructors and 1 Staff Instructor 2 Chief Instructors

Rationale

We've simplified the number of assessors needed at each level to make scheduling and conducting assessments more straightforward and it's now easier to receive timely evaluations, promoting faster progression through training tiers while still rigorous for higher levels of proficiency.

What this means for you

  • Immediate changes: These changes are starting to roll out now and will take up to 24 hours to fully integrate into the system. You may see an increase in your tiers or ratings, particularly if the previous minimum weight requirements were a barrier. However, any advancement is contingent on the assessments already conducted by your instructors.
  • Long-term impact: This update is part of a series of ongoing improvements to the FTS. While important, it is just one step towards enhancing our training framework. We'll be back soon with more updates, each aimed at refining different aspects of the system.

We encourage everyone to engage with the updated system and provide feedback. We are committed to continuously monitoring these changes and making further adjustments as needed. The purpose of the FTS is not just to streamline processes but to create an effective direct training system that improves our current in-game experience in Arma 3 and prepares us for doctrine adaptations into Arma 4 and beyond.
